I've set up this blog because I'm going on a five-and-a-half-month trip to Costa Rica, Mexico, and Ecuador through GVI, a company which gets people doing conservation work, building projects and humanitarian work. I'm going to be doing some conservation work.
My hope / expectation is that I'll be able to get on the internet about once a fortnight when I'm in Costa Rica (I'm there for 10 weeks), maybe once or twice while I'm in Mexico (i'm there for 3 weeks) and maybe once a month when i'm in Ecuador (i'm there for 10 weeks).
The plan is that in CR, i'll be doing turtle nesting surveys, as well as monitoring bird populations, mainly of kingfishers and herons. In Mexico, we'll be researching into jaguar and puma populations (mianly via faeces and footprints... nice!) And in Ecuador, it's mainly bird and frog populations that we'll be studying. That's what i expect, but i'm sure there'll also be lots of stuff i don't expect too!
Well that's it for now. Hopefully my next entry will be from Costa Rica in 3-4 days time.
